The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) will bring its Oplan Kalinaw 2 program to Barangay Maa on Friday, May 12, at GEM Village covered court, in a bid to intensify its anti-criminality and anti-terrorism campaign.
DCPO Chief Police Colonel Alberto Lupaz, in his Thursday guesting on Madayaw Davao program of 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR), said they have conducted 10 engagement activities in 10 barangays in the city since August last year.
“Oplan Kalinaw 2 is an anti-criminality, anti-terrorism operational plan through community engagement,” he said.
Through profiling, DCPO will determine the transients in the barangay and if they have standing warrants of arrest, they can readily implement it.
The DCPO chief said, “In fact, daghan na ta nadakpan during conduct of Oplan Kalinaw 2 sa nagkadaiyang barangay sa Davao City (In fact, we have arrested several personalities during the conduct of Oplan Kalinaw 2 in the city’s barangays).
Aside from profiling, identification, and background check on transients, they also conduct manhunt operations and arrest of wanted persons and fugitives hiding in the community.
Oplan Kalinaw 2 brings with it a whole-of-nation approach as DCPO’s partner government agencies also take part in the program by bringing their services closer to Dabawenyos.
“We have free medical checkups and giving of medicines and vitamins, crime prevention information drive, feeding program, giving of school supplies, community entertainment with live band and magic show, and Oplan Lambat Bitag Sasakyan operation, Oplan Kilos against rape and sexual abuse, among others,” Lupaz said, adding that residents can also get their police and NBI clearances during their visit and other essential government services from other participating agencies.
Oplan Kalinaw 2 is being held simultaneously in all police stations in Davao City. CIO
