The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), in partnership with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), is inviting all job-seekers to participate in the job fair at the SM City on May 1, Labor Day.

A total of 3,312 job vacancies will be available to all applicants. Of these, there are 2,126 vacancies from 46 local companies and 1,186 jobs from 9 overseas employers.

DOLE XI Regional Employment Focal Person Ryan Roldan, during the I-Speak Media Forum on Thursday, said that aside from the job fair on Labor Day, the DOLE will also launch the Government Internship Program (GIP) for fresh graduates who are interested in working for government agencies.

“Kadtong mga bagong graduate o kadtong mga ni-graduate na pero wala gihapoy trabaho sa pagka-karon (For fresh graduates and those who have graduated for some time but have yet to find a job), if you would like to join the government offices, I am inviting you on May 5 at the NCCC Victoria Plaza. We will be conducting the first GIP fair,” said Roldan.

On May 4, PESO Davao and DOLE will be conducting a career fair at the Abreeza Mall. This will be followed by another job fair at the University of the Immaculate Conception in Bankerohan on May 5. Two simultaneous job fairs will be held at the Jose Maria College and in Tibungco on May 12, and another on May 13 at the Holy Cross of Davao, Calinan.

Roldan said the unemployment rate in Davao Region had gone down to 4.5 per cent this year compared to 4.8 per cent of last year. He said these numbers, though still considerable, show a vast departure from the almost 14 per cent unemployment rate recorded at the height of the pandemic in 2021.

To reduce the unemployment rate even more, PESO-Davao Manager Lilibeth Pantinople urged applicants to seek the assistance of PESO, reminding them that job fairs are regularly conducted by the office.

PESO Davao also conducts weekly job fairs in far-flung areas by coordinating with private partners and barangay functionaries. Local applicants are also given seminars to give them a better a chance of landing a job.

“Ang PESO na naningkamot gyud na mahatagan og trabaho ang mga job-seekers. And we are also happy kay most of our private companies nagpa-post gyud sa among PESO office. So everyday gina-post namo na sa among website ug sa amoang FB page (The PESO is doing its best to give employment to all job seekers. And we also happy because most of our private companies send job postings in our PESO office. So every day we post those in our Facebook page),” Pantinople said.

All job-seekers are invited to participate in the upcoming job fairs or look up job postings in PESO Davao’s Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/PesoDavaoCity or visit their website at: https://peso.davaocity.gov.ph/
